September Update 10/05/2010
![]() Kaps for Kids has come and gone and the Abbey Phi Kaps are on to another good cause. Movember is a project affiliated with teh Prostate Cancer Assosiation and the Livestrong Organization that raises men's health awareness. What makes this cause a little bit different than anything we've ever done before is that we are literally helping to change the face of men's health by growing mustaches for the entire month of November and raising money by starting different Mustache Teams. (Think of it as a new take on "No Shave November".) Advertisements go out today, October 5th, and sign-ups for on-campus teams start October 18th. The official Kick Off Party won't be until November 1st, but we figured that the earlier we get the word out the better! The way this fundraiser works is that someone starts up a team and becomes the team leader. The team leader grows a mustache and starts up a following of team members, who help raise money for their "Mo Team." All the teams on campus will be signed up under Phi Kappa Theta NC Alpha Rho on MOVEMBER.COM and the money raised will be donated in full at the end of November (Movember). In addition to being able to shave off your mustache at the end of the month, all teams involved are invited to the First Annual Movember Banquet. It's just to serve as a thank you to all those who participated, and also for everyone to have a good time and officially cast their vote for "Man of Movember." This project is especially important to us, because one of our very own Alums is a survivor of testicular cancer, and has agreed to serve as guest of honor at our Movember Banquet. HAPPY SHAVING!
